With the third relief package, the federal government also promised a one-time inflation premium of up to 3,000 euros.
However, some are likely to go away empty-handed.
"We make a tax-free one-off payment, i.e. an inflation premium possible." With these words, FDP leader Christian Lindner announced a far-reaching measure that was decided as part of the federal government's third relief package.

Third relief package provides for an inflation premium for employees
The traffic light government's inflation premium is intended to help employees to financially cope with the increased energy costs for electricity and gas and the associated higher ancillary costs.
Employees can receive a one-time bonus of up to 3,000 euros from their employer.
All of this should be tax and duty free.
According to dpa
, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD)
is still working with unions and employers on a practical solution.
But there is a catch: Just like with the Corona premium, it is up to each employer to decide whether to pay the inflation premium at all and in what amount.
According to a report by the
Tagesspiegel
, the bonus payments are likely to go mainly to tariff employees, as was the case with the Corona bonus.
However, the head of IG Bau, Robert Feiger, also sees an opportunity in the special payment: Especially in the current shortage of skilled workers, tax- and duty-free additional payments could have an “important magnet effect”, he is quoted as saying by the
Deutsche Handwerkszeitung
.

When will the inflation premium come?
It is still unclear when the inflation premium could be paid out.
So far, the inflation premium, like the entire third relief package, is only a draft and has not yet been decided.
The relief package 3 contains further far-reaching measures, which assures people in Germany financial support.
Pensioners should now also receive a one-off energy price allowance of 300 euros.
At the first EPP for working people, they were left empty-handed.
Students are now also entitled to a one-time payment of 200 euros.
In addition, families are relieved by higher child benefits.
