However, this can also be accompanied by significant changes in terms of prices and subscription formulas and, at the moment, there are indeed a lot of changes in the French SVOD landscape.

CANAL+, new subscriptions
For the start of the 2022 school year, CANAL+ has shaken up its offers and services a little.
It starts with the disappearance of the CANAL+ DÉCALÉ channel: the French audiovisual group decided not to keep it, because it tended to duplicate the myCANAL platform.
As CANAL+ regularly used it as an alternative channel for broadcasting sports, the service decided to rename it CANAL+ SPORT 360. The latter is accessible to all holders of a CANAL+ subscription, who can follow MotoGP, WRC, Ligue 1 Uber Eats, boxing or even basketball.
In addition, another channel made its appearance on CANAL+ for the start of the new school year, which is none other than CANAL+ FOOT.
This is a channel entirely dedicated to football.

Currently, CANAL+ is offering the CANAL+ NETFLIX and beIN SPORTS Limited Series offer.
As its name suggests, this formula gives you access to CANAL+ as well as the CANAL+ SPORT 360, CANAL+ GRAND ÉCRAN, CANAL+ SÉRIES, CANAL+ DOCS AND CANAL+ KIDS channels, but also to all beIN SPORTS channels.
A subscription to Netflix is also included in this subscription which costs 29.99 euros per month with a 24-month commitment.
You have one month to try before being debited from your bank account.
The subscription allows two people to access myCANAL at the same time.

Amazon Prime Video, price increases
For its part, Amazon Prime Video took advantage of the summer to announce a substantial price increase for its two subscription plans.
The first concerns the monthly subscription without commitment, which goes from 5.99 euros to 6.99 euros from September 15.
On the same date, the annual subscription at 49 euros increases to 69.90 euros.
This is the first time that Amazon Prime Video has seen its prices increase since the arrival of the service in France.
However, it should be remembered that subscribing to Prime Video also includes access to all Amazon Prime services.
This includes fast delivery of your orders placed at the e-tailer, the possibility of using Music Prime which includes 2 million musical titles or even access to games offered every month thanks to Prime Gaming.

Among the novelties of the new school year not to be missed on the side of Amazon Prime Video, we obviously find The Lord of the Rings: the Rings of Power, which is one of the series-events of this month of September.
Prime Video airs an episode every Friday until October 14.

Netflix, soon a new formula
For its part, Netflix continues to offer a nice catalog of content that is updated every month.
The historic SVOD platform does not plan any immediate price increases and still displays three different subscriptions: Essential at 8.99 euros per month, Standard at 13.49 euros per month and Premium at 17.99 euros per month.
However, if the latest rumors are to be believed, Netflix could add a fourth offer to these formulas as early as November.
The latter would cost less, but it would include advertising pages.
We do not yet know the price charged, but it could be between 7 and 9 euros and give access to the catalog of the service with 4 minutes of advertising per hour of program.
Netflix is therefore seeking to attract new customers with its new upcoming formula, but also through new products that are always attractive.
The start of the school year notably allows you to enjoy the film Blonde with Ana de Armas in the role of Marilyn Monroe.
The French series Détox is also not to be missed, as well as the fifth season of Cobra Kai or the second season of Lapin Samouraï: The Usagi Chronicles for the youngest.
Other novelties are to come for the end of the year.

OCS, all fire all flame
For its part, Orange Cinema Series, better known as OCS, did not wait for the start of the school year to apply a price increase to its offers.
Its various prices were revised upwards from August 16th.
The 9.99 euro subscription allowing OCS to be viewed on two screens at the same time has gone from 9.99 euros to 10.99 euros.
For its part, the subscription to 11.99 euros allowing the use of the same account on three simultaneous screens rose to 12.99 euros on the same date.
The subscription is always non-binding, which means that you can stop your subscription at any time.

The series of the moment not to be missed on the platform is, without a doubt, House of the Dragon.
This Game of Thrones spin-off has just debuted and OCS is allowing its subscribers to watch it at the same time as in the United States.
This translates into each episode going live at 3 a.m. Sunday night through Monday.
It is then possible to view it whenever you want from the OCS mobile application.
The platform also provides access to very recent films every month, as well as new series.
As such, it is notably possible to discover the fifth season of The Handmaid's Tale this month in the OCS catalog.
