Florian Zeller, Federica Sainte-Rose (ex-Creative Artists Agency) and Mediawan create a joint venture Blue Morning Pictures to produce high-end films and series for international studios and video-on-demand platforms such as Netflix, or Disney +.
“
Florian Zeller is today one of the most prominent directors in the United States and many international studios sought him out.
He had many proposals and I find it symbolic that he decided to partner with a French studio
” explains Pierre-Antoine Capton.
In a statement, Florian Zeller said
"I am very happy to embark on this new adventure with Federica, with whom I have worked for a long time.
His creative vision as well as his work over the last few years at CAA impressed me a lot.
I look forward to developing bold and captivating stories with her for an international audience.”
The author divides his life between Paris and Los Angeles and he is overflowing with projects since "The Father", the play he wrote and then adapted to the cinema, won two Oscars in Hollywood in 2021. One for the best actor Anthony Hopkins and the other for Best Adaptation for Florian Zeller himself.
This explains why the new company Blue Morning Pictures should announce productions with studios very quickly.
One billion turnover
For Mediawan, the association makes it possible to set foot in the United States by hiring a talent recognized in Hollywood since the two Oscars obtained for the film "The Father" with Anthony Hopkins.
“
This is a very important step that underlines our desire to establish ourselves in the United States through partnerships with talents but also through acquisitions.
We are in the process of building a bridge between Europe and the United States
” continues Pierre-Antoine Capton.
“
Mediawan's objective is to support European talent internationally
”.
The French producer has formed, in recent years, a group present in most European audiovisual markets.
Its ambition is now to set up in the United States, with the support of its shareholder KKR, but also in Asia, where discussions are underway.
Mediawan has already reached the billion euro mark in turnover, half of which is already generated internationally.
