In his speech, Charles III enthrones William, but sends 'his love' to Harry

After granting the title of Prince of Wales to his eldest son William, King Charles III kept a thought for his son Harry and his wife Meghan Markle this Friday.

Prince of Wales since 1969, the new king announced, this Friday, September 9, to bequeath his titles to his eldest son William.

“As heir, William will hold the Scottish titles that have been so important to me.

He succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and takes over the responsibilities of the Duchy of Cornwall which have been mine for over five decades,” he announced in a pre-recorded speech this afternoon at Buckingham Palace.

Before continuing: “Today, I am proud to make him the Prince of Wales, a title which I inherited, and it was a great privilege for a very large part of my life.

A sign of reconciliation?

The king did not fail to have a few words for Prince Harry, whose break with the monarchy has shaken the royal family.

"I also want to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas," the monarch said.

If their relations had deteriorated according to the British press, the new royal order could perhaps bring them closer again.
