The funeral of the sovereign, who died on September 8, will take place ten days after her death. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis could also attend the ceremony.

She could not go to the queen's bedside, despite the latter's "worrying" state of health.

Kate Middleton was indeed forced to stay in Berkshire, with her children George, 9, Charlotte, 7, and Louis, 4, who were returning to their new school, Lambrook School.

If they were not present at the funeral of Prince Philip – in particular because of the rules of social distancing then in force – the two princes and the princess should attend the funeral of their great-grandmother, who died on Thursday September 8.

“They will all be there”

No official rule prohibits the youngest members of the royal family from being invited to these commemorations.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie attended the Queen Mother's funeral in 2002 when they were 14 and 12 years old.

If Prince William and Kate Middleton have not mentioned their possible presence at the funeral, or even that of their children, the latter should indeed go there with their family.

According to the psychotraumatologist, lecturer at the University of Metz, "this type of ceremony can be very impressive for a child, even shocking".
