Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Talal Abu-Ghazaleh” International, stressed that digital transformation has become a necessity and is no longer a luxury, and it will determine the future of the world through innovations and main tools, the most important of which is artificial intelligence.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out during a panel discussion held at the University of Damascus today under the title “Digital Transformation in Education” to the need for people to be creative in the field they desire and benefit from in life. He said that the creative world has no limits, and that innovation and invention are the origin of education where we live today. In a world witnessing massive and sweeping changes in all aspects of life, we are facing a revolution that cannot be resisted and in which there is no choice, either we are in the leadership of the world again, as our nation, which was a source of scientific and literary inventions, or we are not.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out that today we are facing an urgent and rapid need for a shift in education to learning, and he said that it was agreed with Damascus University to establish a unit at the university as a nucleus for cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College for Innovation, from which the student can only graduate after a new invention is completed, as the college pursues The method of innovation, not the method of learning, alluding to the Syrian Virtual University, which pursues digital education, and its role in this field.
Abu-Ghazaleh spoke about the quality standards in education and stressed that “change” is the constant fact throughout history and that the quality standards today are that the goal of the educational institution, whether it is a university or a school, is to teach “learning” that is, that the student learns by himself in addition to the academic education that it gives him. The university and that its learning aims at innovation, where the quality standard is “learning to innovate.. and how to become an innovator.”
In another axis, Abu-Ghazaleh saw that politics is the policy of making economic decisions, which is the basis, as policies are used to reach this decision, and therefore we must have policies to achieve our economic goals as individuals, companies, universities and countries.
In the axis of “The International Economy and the Economy of Crisis Countries,” Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out that the economic catastrophes the world is witnessing today is due to the absence of the global system that regulates the affairs of states, the freezing of United Nations organizations and international institutions, and the United States taking the decision of individual sanctions against countries without referring to these organizations, considering That this matter will lead to major international conflicts “and the outbreak of a third world war different in its concept from the first and second world wars because it will be a military-technical conflict that will later lead to the creation of a new global order and an exit from the crises we are living in now.”
Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out, in this regard, the need to move towards necessary development instead of sustainable development to face the coming danger, and that each country should strive to secure its own basic needs of food, medical and technical security.
On the topic of “Digital Transformation in the Age of Social Media,” Abu-Ghazaleh said that there are many problems as a result of the lack of global Internet management, and it is one of the topics that must be discussed when the next war ends, adding: We are paying the price today for the lack of a global system that governs and regulates regarding Currency, the Internet, nuclear, trade, and all the basic things. He believed that war and problems create opportunities to achieve success and overcome difficulties. He considered that “Syria’s victory over the war in light of the sanctions imposed on it by the West is a historic achievement that the Syrian people should be proud of.”
Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pride in his presence in Damascus, the oldest capital in history, and his meeting with the students and professors of the prestigious University of Damascus and the great Syrian people who have great credit for the cause of Palestine.
The dialogue symposium included the presentation of films and reports on Abu Ghazaleh's biography, his practical and scientific career, the topics of the symposium, and the presentation of a memorial shield for him on behalf of Damascus University.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq, Minister of Information, Eng. Fadia Suleiman, Assistant Minister of Communications and Technology for Digital Transformation, Dr. Khaled Al-Halbouni, Secretary of the Damascus University Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, members of the leadership of the branch, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, President of Damascus University and his deputies, and Dr. Imad Mustafa Director of the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, members of the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students, and a large crowd of professors and students at Damascus University.
