The Queen's last journey will be long.
The transfer of the coffin to London began on Sunday (you can access the live stream here), with numerous stops in between until the final burial on the Monday after next.
The protocol for the days leading up to the state funeral has been meticulously planned for years.
Buckingham Palace published the final schedule over the weekend.
On
Sunday (September 11)
, the motorcade will first cover the 280-kilometer route from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh.
There the Queen is laid out in the throne room of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

On
Monday, September 12,
the new King Charles III.
his mother's coffin from Edinburgh Palace to St Giles Cathedral.
He will make the journey on foot.
At the cathedral, he, his wife Camilla and other royals attend a thanksgiving service.
Afterwards, Scots will have the opportunity to say goodbye to the Queen at the coffin.
The coffin containing the Queen's body will be flown from Scotland to England on a Royal Air Force plane on
Tuesday September 13
and then taken by car to Buckingham Palace in London.
King Charles and Queen Camilla travel to Northern Ireland on Tuesday.
Charles will meet Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris, among others.
Wednesday 14 September:
The Queen's remains are carried from Buckingham Palace to Parliament by horse-drawn carriage, followed by King Charles III.
and other members of the royal family.
The funeral procession proceeds down The Mall, past the Horse Guards Parade parade ground and through White Hall and Parliament Street to Parliament.
The coffin containing the Queen's body will
be open to the public in Westminster Hall, the oldest part of Parliament, from
Thursday 15 September - for 23 hours a day and for a total of four days, until
Sunday 18 September
.
Hundreds of thousands are expected to come to pay their last respects to the Queen.
The first state guests are expected on Friday;
On Sunday there will be the last opportunity to say goodbye to the Queen at the coffin.
The coffin will be
taken in a procession from Parliament to Westminster Abbey on
Monday morning (September 19) .
At twelve o'clock (CEST) the funeral service for the Queen begins in the cathedral.
After the service, the coffin is taken in procession to Wellington Arch.
He is then taken in procession in the royal hearse to St George's Chapel on the railings of Windsor Castle.
This is where the queen will eventually be buried.
