After a several-hour drive through Scotland, the hearse with the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II arrived in the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, in the evening.
From their Balmoral country estate in the Scottish Highlands, the convoy traveled via Aberdeen and Dundee, among other places, before being received in Edinburgh by a guard of honor at the royal residence, the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Princess Anne, the Queen's daughter, had accompanied the coffin in another car, and the Queen's sons Prince Andrew and Prince Edward were there on arrival.
The coffin is to be laid out in the palace overnight.
Thousands lined the streets and said goodbye
The seven-vehicle convoy started in the morning from Balmoral Castle, where Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday at the age of 96.
Thousands of people lined the 290-kilometer route, which led through several cities, and paid their last respects to the Queen.
They could see the coffin through the window of the hearse.
This was covered with the royal standard for Scotland and flowers.
On Monday, the coffin will be taken in a procession down the Royal Mile to St Giles Cathedral, where it will remain in state for 24 hours after a service.
The Queen's coffin will be flown to London on Tuesday.
