"Love is in the meadow": Mathieu and Alexandre, the program's first gay marriage, divorce

Mathieu and Alexandre had been the emblematic couple of the 15th season of "Love is in the meadow".

The first gay union of the show became official in the town hall of Sernhac (Gard) in June 2021. Karine Le Marchand, who had adored this couple, attended for the first time a marriage born thanks to the appointment of M6 .

But, for a few weeks, the golden dream has cracked.

Mathieu has just announced in the program hosted by Jordan de Luxe on the Télé Loisirs site that his couple is starting divorce proceedings.

“We want to show that we can separate without tearing ourselves apart.

Of course I suffer from it, but we are not in hatred.

We made a decision of love, we call each other every day.

Mathieu discovered, three years ago, that he was suffering from Cadasil, a rare hereditary genetic disease - one in 24,000 cases - which affects the small arteries of the brain and gives an average life expectancy of 62 years.

The next day, he signed up for “Love is in the meadow”.

At 47, Mathieu will go after his dream of becoming a dad.

“It was Alexandre who gave me back the desire to be a father, I will continue without him.

I don't want the arrival of a child to be followed by a separation.

He felt that her husband was drifting away when he returned from two months of work in Deauville, with the horses.

“He missed his job as a horse trainer.

Upon his return, I felt that my plans would pose some problems.

Surrogacy initially planned in Ukraine

The Camargue bull breeder has been campaigning against homophobia since joining the ADP.

He left with Alexandre for five months in the West Indies.
