The Queen's second eldest son, Prince Andrew, 62, will be looking after some of her dogs following the death of his mother.

According to reports from the BBC and the Guardian, Muick and Sandy, two young corgis, are to be handed over to the ousted prince.

Andrew and his daughters gave the dogs to the Queen as a gift last year to cheer her up after the death of her husband, Prince Phillip.

The Queen died last Thursday at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, aged 96.

The state funeral is scheduled for Monday September 19th.

involvement in abuse scandal

Earlier this year, the Queen stripped Andrew of all military ranks for his involvement in the abuse scandal surrounding the late US multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

He had already lost his official role as representative of the royal family.

An American had sued the prince for allegations of abuse in the United States.

She accused him of sexually abusing her multiple times when she was 17.

The lawsuit ended in a multi-million dollar settlement.

Nevertheless, Andrew's return to the inner circle of the royal family is considered unlikely.

As a result, Andrew will reportedly not appear in military uniform during the mourning ceremonies.

This was reported by the British news agency PA, citing palace circles.

The only exception is the last wake for Queen Elizabeth II in Parliament's Westminster Hall as a "special sign of respect".

Surprise at the memorial service

At the end of March, Andrew took a step back into the public eye.

Queen Elizabeth II had chosen him to accompany her to Westminster Abbey for the memorial service for her husband Prince Philip, who died last year at the age of 99.

The election surprised many observers.

On the other hand, Andrew did not take part in major events for the Queen's 70th throne jubilee in June.

He was not allowed to stand with the Queen on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Trooping the Color parade.

He had canceled attending a service because of a corona infection.

It's still unclear what will happen to the late Queen's two other dogs, Lissy and Candy.

The Queen's love for her dogs dates back to her youth.

For her 18th birthday she was given the dog Sandy.

More than 30 other dogs joined during their lives - the majority of them Corgis.
