Carbon dioxide is becoming scarce: the first beverage manufacturers are stopping production

Bottlenecks in the supply of carbon dioxide are currently worrying beverage manufacturers.
Price increases and production stops are the consequence.

The reason for this, in addition to the sharp rise in costs for electricity and gas, is also the price increase for carbon dioxide, which is required for production.

The supplier even had to close its European plant, explained the brewery boss.
Sebastian Priller, who runs the Riegele brewery in Augsburg, also expects production stops in the coming week.
The producers of mineral water are now also sounding the alarm.
A spokesman for the German Fountain Cooperative reported that some manufacturers did not receive the quantities of CO2 that they had ordered.
