(ANSA) - LONDON, SEPTEMBER 12 - Charles III landed in Edimburg with the queen consort Camilla to participate in the afternoon in the procession that will accompany the coffin of Elizabeth II, her mother, to the cathedral of St Giles: where the first public homage to the remains is expected mortals of the most glorious sovereign in British history.
The procession is preceded by a visit by the sovereign to the seat of the local Scottish Parliament of Holyrood, where a Royal Regiment of Scotland unit is deployed for the honorary rite;
and where the so-called Ceremony of the Keys is held: that is, the delivery of the keys of the city to the new monarch, who, as king of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, inherits the historic crown of Scotland as well as that of England.
