Steven Spielberg signs a love letter to his mother and to the cinema

The American director presented The Fablemans at the Toronto International Film Festival. A very personal work.

Since September 8, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has given Canada's economic capital a festive air.

The public and Hollywood stars are back on King Street West after two years of the pandemic.

The organization now hopes to regain its aura as soon as possible before the health crisis, which had made the festival the last major event before the Oscars.

In 2018, Peter Farrelly's film,

Greenbook

, won the audience award - the most important award of this festival which is not a competition like Cannes or Venice - before winning the Oscars a few months later.

In order to achieve this, the TIFF played a very good trick this year: Steven Spielberg chose Toronto to the detriment of Venice to come and present his latest film,

The Fabelmans

.

Through this partly autobiographical account, Spielberg, 75, writes what could be the first volume of his Memoirs - the story ends when he is not yet 20 years old.
