Emmy: 'Succession' and 'Ted Lasso' the best series of the year

(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 13 - 'Succession' by Hbo best drama series and 'Ted Lasso' by Apple TV best comic series.


   This is the verdict of the 2022 Emmys broadcast from Los Angeles which awarded the satire 'White Lotus' the award for the best miniseries.


   The South Koreans of 'Squid Game' have made history, however: Netflix's dystopian drama exploded last year as a planetary success brought home the award for the best dramatic actor, Lee Jung-jae, who became the first to act in a language other than the 'English recognized in the category, while Hwang Dong-hyuk won the Emmy for the pain of the episode' Red Light, Green Light '.


   The 'Succession' Emmy was the second in three years after the 2021 hiatus.    Hbo's victories were counterbalanced by the second consecutive Emmy for 'Ted Lasso', best comedy series, also awarded with Jason Sudeikis in the parts of the coach with a golden heart and Brett Goldstein in that of the former football player with a swear word.


   There was a lot of anticipation for "Abbott Elementary", the ABC series about a group of teachers at a public school in Philadelphia: Quinta Brunson, the creator, won for the screenplay, while Sheryl Lee Ralph accepted her statuette of non-best actress. starring singing 'Endangered Species' by DianneReeves and receiving open stage applause.


   Awards also went to Jean Smart of 'Hacks' for Best Comic Actress, to Zendaya ('Euphorya'), to 26-year-old Best Actress in a Drama Series and to Michael Keaton, Best Actor in the 'Dopesick' series on the opiate crisis.
