Fish fillet warning – nationwide sale stopped due to finding Listeria

Ostsee Fisch GmbH has to recall its mackerel fillet nationwide from the market.
The recall is justified with a Listeria find during an internal analysis.
Bentwisch near Rostock – Ostsee Fisch GmbH is recalling the product “Natural mackerel fillet smoked over beech wood” in the 150-gram pack from retailers.
This is shared by the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety
on his website.
The reason given by the manufacturer in a press release dated September 9, 2022 is that an internal analysis of the product
identified Listeria monocytogenes
.
It can therefore not be ruled out that the product contains Listeria.
The company strongly advises against consumption.
The corresponding goods had been withdrawn from sale, it is said.
Only products with
batch number L220818
are affected by the measure.

Mackerel fillet recall: Manufacturer regrets case in press statement
The product can be sold in stores.
The customer gets the purchase price back.
The head of the company, Silvia Beetke, regrets the fact in a press release.
However, nothing can be found on the company website about the recall of the affected product.
Listeria
disease
usually manifests itself within 14 days after infection with diarrhea and fever.
Pregnant women, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system in particular can develop more severe illnesses with blood poisoning and meningitis.
In pregnant women, even without symptoms, the unborn child can be harmed.
Anyone who has eaten this food and develops severe or persistent symptoms should seek medical attention and report possible Listeria infection.
Pregnant women who have eaten this food should seek medical treatment and advice even if they have no symptoms.
For other people without symptoms, this is not useful.

Smoked trout fillets had already caused a stir at the end of August.
The product was sold in Baden-Württemberg and was recalled due to high levels of Listeria.
The delicacy posed a great danger, especially for pregnant women.
