In a statement, Zinemaldia explained that Close had to cancel his visit this afternoon due to "a family emergency" just three days before the event opened.
Close has conveyed to the organization her "regret" for not being able to fulfill a task with which she felt "very committed."
Last week, the

and
Dangerous Liaisons
star posted a video on social media of her expressing her excitement at presiding over that jury, "a new adventure she's never experienced before."
"I love San Sebastian, the people are fantastic, I really want to see wonderful movies and I'm excited to meet my fellow jurors," she said.
Now, through a statement, Close has "deeply" regretted not being able to take part in the event.
"There has been a family emergency for which I must stay home," she explained.
Close has apologized to the festival, the jury, the filmmakers, the Donostia Awards and the public "for not being able to be there to celebrate with all of you".
The jury for the official section is finally made up of the casting director and filmmaker Antoinette Boulat (France), the director and screenwriter Tea Lindeburg (Denmark), the writer and journalist Rosa Montero (Spain), the filmmaker and visual artist Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese (Lesotho), the director and screenwriter Hlynur Pálmason (Iceland) and the producer Matías Mosteirín (Argentina), who will chair it.
