Beatles singer John Lennon's killer remains in prison

Mark David Chapman has been denied parole for the 12th time, New York City Department of Justice data showed on Wednesday.

The 67-year-old has been in custody since the fatal shooting of the musician in December 1980, currently in a prison north of New York City.

Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, fights parole every time parole is due.

Chapman shot Lennon on his Manhattan doorstep and was sentenced to "20 years to life."

He can apply for parole again in two years at the earliest.
