"This fall, several major trends are going to take over the market," explains Eleanor Bor Ben-Zvi, Vice President of Marketing at Luxautica Israel, "We have close to 30 brands where you can see the expression of various trends." So which trends are we talking about? According to Bor Ben-Zvi, there are six main ones.

Combining worlds

This is a trend that blurs the line between reality and imagination.

Between digital and virtual life stand the physical ones, elements that are expressed in unusual frame shapes, as in the case of "Miu Miu", which have an oval model, with round and curved shapes, which supposedly form a bridge between the virtual and the real, with soft transitions between the angles of the glasses.

The illusion trend is similar, but it takes it one step further: a connection to the digital world - but with an exit from it to real life, through models with prominent and bold shapes, like the reality hitting in the face.

Another trend that is manifested when you give a modern upgrade to a classic model and create a timeless model, for example in Raven, Oliver People or Vogue glasses.

Thus, the familiar and old shape is slightly changed and the glasses are given a more modern look.

This is done in a variety of ways, for example by combining metals, creating a more minimal looking model or anything that gives a modern twist.

Although Oakley models will immediately come to mind, here it is not only an inspiration taken from intense training but also from nature - the colors are greener, matte shades are more present and color block.

"You can't dictate prices"

One of the questions that is asked a lot, when comparing "normal" glasses to sunglasses of various brands, is about the price.

The differences can be hundreds and even thousands of shekels - but is this really justified, or is it determined only by the name of the desired brand?

"In many cases, the high price is indeed justified," answers Bor.

"You can see videos showing how Chanel sunglasses are made. It's handmade, someone sits there and sets stone after stone and pearl after pearl.

"The Oliver People brand is also handmade, but Vogue, for example, can convey the same style of a luxury brand and even at a more accessible price. So yes, there is a difference in the details, in the materials. There are some that are made in the East and some that are made in Italy or Los Angeles, and of course - The types of lenses, some of which are of higher quality and some of which are less so."

In almost every field there were price increases during the Corona epidemic.

Did the same happen in the field of glasses?

"I don't think it affected the field too much. We cannot dictate a price to any store, because we are the marketers, but we do give a recommended price to the consumer. But production in the world of glasses did not stop because of the corona virus."

Aren't the prices of glasses in Israel higher compared to abroad?

"It may be that sometimes the competition here is greater, and Israelis like discounts, so they start with discounts as psychological warfare for the Israeli consumer, instead of the full price like abroad.

It's not always more expensive here."

The chosen models: boldness, audacity and confidence

After the price issue is behind us, we checked with a variety of stores what they think are going to be the most correct and dominant models in fall-winter 2023. We received a variety of colors and shapes, which on the one hand are trend-setting, but on the other hand make it clear to us that in the end the rules are that there are no rules.

It seems that any sunglasses you go with in the coming season will respond to some of the expected new fashions.

A new design features an acetate and metal frame, featuring a separate die-cast vertical logo axis.

The embossed logo trend caught on, and at New York Fashion Week we will see the motif repeated in eight models in a variety of colors for each model, which is going to be especially strong this fall.

The strong colors are powder and cream, very quiet and blending colors, suitable for fall colors.

Emerald green models are also particularly suitable for fall colors, and this is going to be the color of the fall.
