To talk about their first collective mini-album, Grand Corps Malade, Gaël Faye and Ben Mazué gave us an appointment at Ryss, the Parisian café where they will be signing on Saturday at 2 p.m.
It is also in this popular place that the idea of an "Ephemeral" collaboration germinated in the fall of 2020, in the midst of a pandemic.
"We saw each other regularly here, just to have a drink," says Ben Mazué.
It wasn't time yet, because we had just released our respective albums and we just wanted to go on tour.
But a few months later, a text message from Fabien (Marsaud, alias Grand Corps Malade) revived the idea: shutting oneself up with Quentin Mosimann and Guillaume Poncelet (their favorite composer-producers) in a house, making five or six songs, an EP and maybe a gig or two.
