In Germany, the competition between supermarkets is fierce.

Now the Edeka subsidiary Netto is trying to get to the top.

Kassel – In Germany there is a lively exchange of blows between Aldi, Lidl and Co.: The Edeka subsidiary is now taking a targeted hit against its competition.

With a total of 5000 Netto branches in Germany, the discounter wants to put the competition in the shade, as

The Netto Group has been pursuing the five-digit goal for several years.

Where the new markets are to be created is still unclear.

Net against Lidl and Aldi: With 5000 branches, the Edeka subsidiary wants to be at the top

Compared to Lidl, Aldi and other competitors, Netto already has the largest branch network in Germany.

The chain, which has belonged to the Edeka Group since 2005, still has its sights set on the 5,000 branch mark, as the new head of expansion, Ingo Elbs, once again made clear, as

In the ranking of market shares, Netto takes third place after Aldi and Lidl.

The Edeka subsidiary closed almost 600 branches in the past financial year, as the supermarket

writes.

The profit was 14.7 billion euros, with each of the 4,282 branches accounting for an average turnover of 3.5 million euros.

Netto with a new concept: With "Netto21", the Edeka subsidiary wants to polish up its branches

However, it is not only with more branches that Netto wants to catapult itself ahead of the competition.

Under the motto "Netto21", the image of the supermarket chain is to be further improved, as

chip.de

writes.

In this context, the Edeka subsidiary would like to change the store layout and adjust the campaign areas.

It was not until 2017 that Netto integrated 43 branches of the Tengelmann Group into the NettoCity format.

The format summarizes branches with a small sales area.

When and if Netto will break the 5000 mark remains to be seen.

Most recently, Netto made a name for itself with the “salami for vegetarians”.
