(ANSA) - MILAN, 14 SEPTEMBER - After a few weeks of testing, Twitter officially launches podcasts for subscribers of the Blue service, not yet available in Italy.
This allows, against a periodic fee, to access exclusive features of the social network, including podcasts.
The audio interventions are present in the renewed Spaces tab, designed for quick access to the live audio spaces held by users.
Unlike these, which disappear after a while, podcasts will be online for a longer period and searchable by title and author.
By clicking on Spaces you will see three menus.
In the upper part the stations, which scroll horizontally and show different themes and topics to listen to.
Below, Spaces spotlight, which lists some of the best audio content.
Finally, a list of Spaces about to get started.
At the moment, access is restricted to Blue subscribers on iOS although the Twitter team explained that soon the app on Android will also benefit from the update of the Spaces tab with podcasts.
Twitter says podcasts are part of plans to give users a "personalized and complete audio experience" by offering even more content to listen to.
Internal research shows that 45% of those who use Twitter in the United States also listen to podcasts monthly, on other apps, one of the reasons for expanding the service and possibly discovering new monetization methods.
In June, Facebook had decided to retire from the podcast business, launched in June 2021, with the closure of the Soundbites and Audio hubs, keeping only the Live Audio Rooms function for live streaming.
