(S+) JK Rowling: Why Harry Potter Fans Feel Betrayed

2022-09-16T04:09:40.194Z

The author of the Harry Potter books is turning fans against her with a campaign against the causes of a small minority. What's behind it?

JK Rowling feels persecuted.

Probably the most powerful author in the world, inventor of Harry Potter, is at odds with the transgender movement.

The self-declared feminist does not like the idea that one's own gender is a construct and can therefore be freely chosen, regardless of biology - and she takes up arms against it.

Especially on Twitter.

Harry Potter fans who come across this must be disappointed: the author of her beloved Potter books is said to be anti-trans?

Who writes about magic that makes everything possible, about finding one's identity and adoptive families made up of friends not blood?

That's not all: The disappointment and anger that JK Rowling is facing has now been processed in a book.

It's called "The Deep Black Heart" and appears under a man's name.

There seems to be a lot to unravel here.

SPIEGEL editor Arno Frank helps with this in the podcast.
