Anne Heche died last August as a result of a serious car accident at the age of 53.
Shortly before her death, the US actress was still working on her memoirs.
In it, Heche also reflects on her relationship with star presenter Ellen DeGeneres, as can now be seen from a previously published excerpt.
The two were one of the first openly gay couples in Hollywood in the late 1990s.
»I was labeled impossible for falling in love with a woman.
I've never been with a woman before I dated Ellen," Heche writes in her book Call Me Anne, due out next January.
During his lifetime, Heche had said Hollywood ostracized her because of the relationship.
“Personally, I didn't identify as a lesbian.
I just fell in love!
To put it bluntly, it was just as weird for me as it was for anyone.
There were no words to describe how I felt," Heche said in her book: "Lesbian didn't feel right, and neither did straight.
Sometimes I thought Alien might be the best fit.«
She also saw her book as an opportunity.
"What, why and how I fell in love with a person and not with their gender, I would have gladly answered if someone had asked.
But like I said, no one ever did.
I'm glad I was able to tell you once and for all in this book," Heche writes.
Manuscript submitted
Book publisher Jarred Weisfeld said he signed a deal with Heche in May.
Shortly before her death, she submitted the manuscript.
Heche drove her car into a house at high speed in Los Angeles on August 5.
After several days in a coma, she died at the age of 53.
Heche was one of the rising stars in Hollywood in the late 1990s, starring in films such as Walking and Talking, Wag the Dog and Gus Van Sant's Psycho remake.
She has worked consistently in the film and television industry for more than three decades.
In the summer of 2000, Heche's relationship with DeGeneres ended in a nervous breakdown.
From 2001 to 2009 she was then married to cameraman Coleman Laffoon, from 2007 to 2018 she was in a relationship with actor James Tupper.
She had a son with both men.
