The new Infection Protection Act will take effect from October.
This means that people without a booster vaccination are no longer considered to be fully vaccinated.
The digital vaccination certificate is also expiring.
"Certificate will expire soon": This message in the Corona warning or CovPass app is currently leaving many citizens at a loss.
In fact, in October, many people who have only had basic immunization lose their vaccination status under the new Infection Protection Act.
From October 1, 2022, the following applies: People are considered fully vaccinated after three individual vaccinations, whereby the last vaccination must have been given at least three months after the second individual vaccination.
So if you want to keep your vaccination status before the law, you have to get boosters.
Or?
The easiest way is actually the booster vaccination.
This is recommended by health authorities such as the Robert Koch Institute and the Federal Ministry of Health to prevent severe corona disease progression and to protect risk groups.
63.4 million people in Germany (76.3 percent) are currently basic immunized.
51.6 million citizens (62.1 percent) also received a booster vaccination, as can be seen from the vaccination dashboard Germany (as of September 15).

No booster and yet complete vaccination protection for those who have recovered after basic immunization
But according to the new Infection Protection Act, not only those who have been boosted will be fully vaccinated from October 2022.
Anyone who has had two individual vaccinations and can show a positive antibody test before the first vaccination also has complete vaccination protection before the law.
Two vaccinations and a Sars-CoV-2 infection detected by a PCR test before or after the second vaccination also mean that the vaccination status does not expire from October, as the Federal Ministry of Health informs.
However, 28 days must have passed since the test, it said.
Technical expiry date was decided by the EU
Millions of vaccination certificates will expire in the coming weeks.
It is a technical expiration date decided by the European Union.
The EU has limited the period of validity of vaccination certificates in Regulation 2021/2288 of December 21, 2021, according to the website of the Federal Ministry of Health.
It agreed on a recognition period of 270 days for the EU's digital vaccination certificate after the completion of the basic immunization.
However, this duration only applies to the cross-border area, i.e. when traveling to other EU countries, according to the Federal Ministry of Health.
Anyone who has already received the basic immunization and a booster can sit back and relax: The certificate for a booster vaccination is currently valid for an unlimited period of time throughout the EU, according to the

"The EU's digital vaccination certificate becomes valid again as soon as a booster vaccination is coded, regardless of how far away it is from the basic immunization," informs the Federal Ministry of Health.
