(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 16 - It was the exceptional heat of the summer of 2022 that triggered the violent storm that took place in the Marche.
This was indicated by Bernardo Gozzini, director of the Lamma consortium, which brings together the Tuscany Region and Cnr.
"The storm in the Marche occurred after a particularly hot summer, during which the sea temperature was 4-5 degrees above average," he noted.
The evaporation process led to the accumulation of a greater amount of moisture.
"There has been an accumulation of energy that the system will now have to discharge to get back into equilibrium. Consequently, autumn could be particularly complex."
For Gozzini, the violent storm in the Marche was an event impossible to predict because it was very localized compared to the capabilities of meteorological models.
"The meteorological models gave a localization of the phenomena more on Tuscany and were anticipated in time. The problem - he added - is that there is still a great deal of uncertainty, so much so that it is currently impossible to predict such localized phenomena".
The critical elements, he added, are currently "figuring out where and when they will happen."
