Simple, inexpensive, quick to make and really tasty at the same time - such recipes are a hit at every party and these ham and cheese balls are one of them.

Are you planning a party and need a super quick and easy snack that is also cheap?

Or maybe you've been invited and are looking for the perfect souvenir for the party buffet?

Then your search is over, because here they are: simple, quick and cheap ham and cheese balls that will make you a hit at every party.

The small, bite-sized balls taste really spicy and are stirred together and baked so quickly that they are even suitable as a last-minute snack.

For the ham and cheese balls you only need a few inexpensive ingredients that you can find in your stash, mainly flour, quark, baking powder and milk.

And if you don't feel like ham, simply vary the party balls with dried tomatoes, herbs or something completely different, according to your mood.

Ham and cheese balls for the party: You need these ingredients

  • 300 grams of flour

  • 1 pack of baking powder

  • 250 g cottage cheese

  • 6 tbsp milk

  • 7 tbsp oil

  • 1 tablespoon of sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 50 g roasted onions

  • 100 g lean diced ham

  • 100 g grated cheese, eg Gouda

That's how quickly you bake the ham and cheese balls before the party

  • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees top/bottom heat (160 degrees convection) and line two baking trays with baking paper (or one of these alternatives).

  • First, mix the flour with the baking powder, sugar and salt.

  • In a second bowl, mix the quark, milk and oil with the roasted onions, the diced ham and the grated cheese.

  • Combine the dry and wet ingredients and knead into a smooth dough.

  • Then, using wet hands, two spoons, or an ice cream scoop, form about 50 small balls and space them on the baking sheets.

  • Then bake the ham and cheese balls one after the other on the middle shelf for about 20 minutes - depending on the oven output.

Or you can bake both trays at the same time with convection, but then swap and rotate them halfway through.

  • These simple and quick balls taste great as a warm or cold party snack, on their own or in combination with a dip or a delicious herb or tomato butter.

Try it and you will be surprised how quickly the ham and cheese balls are eaten.

But you can still quickly bake some...
