The Elysee Palace indicates in a press release that the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron sent a letter on Friday to teachers and staff of National Education to present to them the transformations planned during the five-year term.
Among these transformations is in particular the revaluation of the remuneration of teachers, which could go up to 20% within the framework of the “pact” that he offers them, considering that “too many teachers are not recognized as they should”.
The Elysée specifies that the Head of State "wished to write to all national education personnel in order to show them all his gratitude, especially after the Covid period, and to explain the Copernican revolution" that he had presented on August 25 at the Sorbonne.
“At the start of this new school year, I wanted to present to you (…) the transformations that I wish to bring about (at school) during this five-year term”, writes the president in this letter addressed to the 1.2 million National Education staff.
Upcoming consultations with the unions
In this letter, the Head of State recalled that the Minister of Education, Pap Ndiaye, "will soon begin consultations with the trade unions in order to continue the general revaluation of teachers' remuneration initiated two years ago". .
“Teacher salaries will thus have increased by around 10% and no teacher will start their career with less than 2,000 euros net from the start of the 2023 school year,” he promises.
“To this general and unconditional revaluation are likely to be added even greater increases within the framework of the pact that we are offering you”, thanks to “additional missions” (replacement, individualized follow-up, orientation, etc.), continues Emmanuel Macron, before adding: "The increase in the salary of teachers who accept this pact could thus go up to 20%".
The project of the "refoundation of the school" launched in October
At the end of August, the Head of State had assured the rectors that the revaluation of teachers' salaries would be "continued" so that none began their career "at less than 2,000 euros net" per month. .
The president also stresses that “to transform the school in depth, we must also review its entire organization” within the framework of the National Council for Refoundation (CNR).
"Everything should no longer come from Paris in the form of circulars and directives", he said, referring to the need to "start from the ground to renovate our school".
In conclusion, Emmanuel Macron underlines that "as of October, we will launch everywhere in France this site of the refoundation of the school by proposing to each school, each college, each high school which wishes it to build a project which is clean by bringing everyone around the table, heads of establishments, principals, teachers and the entire educational community".
