Meatball in a bun, but better!

Meatballs between bread sounds a bit unspectacular, so we simply call our gratinated sandwich a meatball sandwich!

Is it all a matter of marketing?

Nope - we just have super awesome recipes 🤤.

That's how it's done:

You need these ingredients:

  • Meatballs:

  • 300 g mixed minced meat

  • 1 egg

  • 0.5 bunch of parsley, chopped

  • 50 g breadcrumbs

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • paprika powder (optional)

  • vegetable oil for frying

  • Tomato sauce:

  • 100 g grilled peppers ad jar, in strips

  • 400 g chopped tomatoes ad can

  • salt and pepper

  • Besides that:

  • 4 hot dog buns

  • 20 g mozzarella, grated 

  • Olives, sliced

And this is how the sandwiches are prepared:

  • For the meatballs:

    In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, chopped parsley, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and paprika with a fork and use a fork to shape into meatballs.

  • Heat the oil in a pan and fry the meatballs on all sides until crisp.

    Then remove and set aside.

  • For the tomato sauce:

    Briefly braise the peppers in the remaining meat juices in the same pan.

    Then add the chopped tomatoes, salt and pepper and mix well.

  • Add the meatballs to the tomato sauce and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  • Slice and toast the hot dog buns.

    Fill each with a few meatballs and tomato sauce and place upside down in an oven dish.

    Sprinkle everything with grated mozzarella and bake for 10 minutes.

  • Garnish with fresh herbs and sliced ​​olives to taste.
