After a serious car accident with two dead children in the Hanover area, the public prosecutor's office has brought charges of murder and dangerous bodily harm against a 40-year-old.

A 39-year-old is accused of being an accessory to murder.

Both are also accused of participating in a prohibited car race and endangering road traffic.

This was announced by the prosecution in Hanover.

In the accident in Barsinghausen on February 25, a two-year-old died at the scene of the accident.

His six-year-old brother died the following night.

The parents and two other people were seriously injured.

The family's car was thrown through the air in the collision

According to the investigation, the accused are said to have delivered a race with their high-powered cars.

For this, the 40-year-old is said to have swerved with her car into the oncoming lane, both are said to have accelerated to well over 100 km/h.

Both cars are said to have driven over a crest into a right-hand bend at far too high a speed, where the 40-year-old encountered several cars on the opposite lane.

The woman's car skidded, hit the rear of an oncoming car and spun, hitting the family car with their two young sons.

The family's car was thrown through the air into an adjacent field.

The children were injured so badly that they died.

The children's parents, the driver of another car and the suspected cause of the accident suffered serious injuries.

According to the information, the public prosecutor's office assumes that the 40-year-old has accepted an accident with a fatal outcome for the occupants of the oncoming cars.

The 39-year-old is accused of being an accessory to murder because he is also said to have accelerated his car before the accident occurred.

He is suspected of having contributed to the dangerous situation.

An arrest warrant was issued for the 40-year-old.

She was reportedly arrested on Thursday after an international search in Poland.
