The American actor Henry Silva is dead. This was announced by his son Scott, according to several media reports.
Silva was 95 years old.
His career began in the 1950s and he appeared in more than 130 films and series, mostly as a villain.
In 1960 he made the comedy »Frankie and His Henchmen« (»Ocean's 11«) and the western »The Victorious Three« (1962) with the »Ratpack« stars around Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin.
He also starred alongside Sinatra in the political thriller The Manchurian Candidate.
Being locked into a particular role didn't seem to bother him.
On the contrary: "I see a lot of actors playing heavyweights, but they always play the same heavyweights," he told the Chicago Tribune in 2000. "I've seen a seven-minute edit of my films, and each of the guys is different."
Silva's son shared that his father died Wednesday at a retirement home in Woodland Hills, California.
