(ANSA) - BISHKEK, SEPTEMBER 17 - Kyrgyzstan has announced that at least 24 people were killed in the clashes on the border with Tajikistan, in a new flare-up of violence between the two former Soviet republics.
"24 bodies were brought to health facilities in the Batken region" in southeastern Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health said in a statement.
From Samarkand, where they were both, Kyrgyz presidents Sadyr Japarov and Tajik Emomali Rahmon ordered their respective troops a few hours ago to withdraw from the contact line along the border after the ceasefire that occurred today.
