Metal components, as in this case and in a recent cheese recall, are among the most common food contaminants, according to Behrs, a food law and food hygiene website.
They get into the cycle mainly through interventions in the systems in the process in the event of malfunctions and conversion work.
Other common contaminants include packaging materials, natural debris and vermin.
In order to ensure food safety, there are already numerous laws in Germany intended to avoid recalls.
