Beetroot or beetroot?
Do you sometimes have trouble with the spelling of the delicious vegetables?
I'm happy to help: the name comes from Latin (where else does it come from?).
"Beta" means "turnip".
Therefore, the correct spelling is actually:
beetroot
.
But since so many people write "beetroot", the dictionary now also allows this spelling to get by... at the bottom of the article you can read a few things worth knowing about the delicious beetroot.
That's how it's done:
You only need a few ingredients:
400 grams of potatoes
400 g beetroot
150ml milk
250 ml whipped cream
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp herbs de Provence
40 g cream horseradish
100g parmesan, grated
The preparation is quick and easy:
Preheat the oven to 180°C for a circulating air.
Wash, clean, peel and finely slice the potatoes and beetroot.
In a saucepan, bring the milk, cream, spices, and creamed horseradish to a boil.
In a casserole dish, alternate layers of potato, beetroot and parmesan.
Pour the milk and cream mixture over it.
Bake for 50 minutes until the vegetables are cooked.
A mixed salad goes well with it.
