Beetroot or beetroot?

Do you sometimes have trouble with the spelling of the delicious vegetables?

I'm happy to help: the name comes from Latin (where else does it come from?).

"Beta" means "turnip".

Therefore, the correct spelling is actually:

beetroot

.

But since so many people write "beetroot", the dictionary now also allows this spelling to get by... at the bottom of the article you can read a few things worth knowing about the delicious beetroot.

That's how it's done:

You only need a few ingredients:

  • 400 grams of potatoes 

  • 400 g beetroot

  • 150ml milk

  • 250 ml whipped cream 

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1 tsp herbs de Provence 

  • 40 g cream horseradish

  • 100g parmesan, grated

The preparation is quick and easy:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C for a circulating air.

  • Wash, clean, peel and finely slice the potatoes and beetroot.

  • In a saucepan, bring the milk, cream, spices, and creamed horseradish to a boil.

  • In a casserole dish, alternate layers of potato, beetroot and parmesan.

    Pour the milk and cream mixture over it.

  • Bake for 50 minutes until the vegetables are cooked.

  • A mixed salad goes well with it.
