The exhibition 'Momenti di moda', open from 17 September at Palazzo Morando, in Milan, tells the story of women's emancipation 'from the bust to the dungarees', with a journey in seven stages.

From the collection of the Municipality of Milan, which currently includes

over 6,000 pieces of clothing and accessories

from the sixteenth to the twenty-first century, the ones that allow you to better retrace the radical transformations of twentieth century fashion have been chosen.

The path curated by Enrica Morini, Margherita Rosina and Ilaria De Palm starts

at the beginning of the century with the bust, the elimination of which is one of the first effects of female emancipation

.

After passing through the flappers, young casual women of the 20s, the elegance of the 30s, the difficulties of the Second World War and the great tailoring of the 50s, the journey ends with the birth of Italian prêt à porter over the years '70 and

a dungarees, chosen as a symbol of the youth fashions

of the period.

To link the journey through the history of fashion to the theme of the Museum's collections, a 1963 suit by Mary Quant donated in 1981 by the English designer "to the new fashion museum in Milan".
