But can that work at all?

Tea light oven: "A craft project for the family - nothing more"
The small tea lights, which are not only known from the Swedish furniture store, can be found in almost every apartment.
They are cheap to buy - 100 pieces cost around five euros and they provide some light for a certain period of time.
Instructions for tea light ovens can be found on the Internet.
These can be assembled relatively cheaply and quickly.
A tea light oven can also make sense as a craft project for the family.
However, it does not achieve the heat output to heat up a room, let alone an entire apartment, to a pleasant temperature.

Tea light oven as a heating replacement: does it work?
Because the extent of a potential energy crisis isn't clear, some counties recommend having certain items in your home.
This also includes the popular tea lights.
But the heat output of these small candles is anything but high.
A tealight develops an average heat output of 40 watts.

A tea light oven with three or four candles thus creates a maximum of 160 watts of heat output.
In order to heat a room sufficiently, this heat output per square meter would be necessary.
So for a 20 square meter room you would need around 20 of these tea light ovens to achieve adequate heat output.

Candles consume oxygen.
The oxygen concentration can decrease dangerously.
There is a huge amount of garbage.
In the social networks, under the construction instructions for tea light ovens on TikTok, there are countless comments from users who creatively reinterpret the idea of home heating:

Even if you can assemble a tea light oven yourself relatively quickly, there is no way around the law of conservation of energy.
The clay container mounted above the tea lights stores some of the heat given off, but it cannot be increased.
Where no energy is generated, none can be gained.
Thus, the tea light oven is a homely gimmick for your own four walls.
However, it is not enough for heating.
