The 30th anniversary celebrations were opened by the members of the Church of Wisdom band with an exhibition initiated and curated by the Bar-Gil Foundation, which covered the history of the band from its beginnings in the community center in Sderot, to the commune in Allenby, the big break through to the mass performances and collaborations with leading artists. Now they continue to The next step in the festivities.
The band is coming out with a series of "Albums" shows, special shows at the Barbie Club and Caesarea Amphitheatre, with each show dedicated to an album or two.
The series will be opened by the performance "Whispered Words" and "The Yellow Album" on November 24 at the Barbie Club.
In an interview with Israel Hayom, band members Yoram Hazan and Ran Elmaleh talk about the long road, and try to decipher the secret of the magic that kept them together for so long.

"It's completely different from a normal show, it's a tradition that happens in Israeli music. Many artists make whole albums - and the whole show is in the original order of the songs," explains Hazan, "It's to convey the experience of the listener who heard the album when it first came out, and for us artists it's to return to songs that were not Many times we perform at concerts, songs that are hidden from the stage repertoire. The truth is that it's fascinating because we experience renewed excitement. This kind of show is a bit different. It's really trying to reproduce the original sounds of the songs, to get to the subtleties, and it's a lot of work."
Elmaleh adds: "In this series of concerts we will try to reproduce the albums as much as possible. Each album had its own special sound and the appropriate production - and we will try to bring it to the stage."
After 30 years together, what do you know today that you didn't know then?
"30 years ago we thought we knew everything, and today we know we know nothing. We learned some things and forgot other things, but mostly we learned to play better together," says Hazan.
"Oh, oh," Elmaleh laughs, "that's a good question. For me, it's not just music, but also a lot around. The innocence at the beginning was around music, around writing the songs, this excitement of going on stage for the first time. Over the years, you realize that it's much more. Even To be interviewed by the media - for me, this whole thing was not taken into account at all at the beginning. I know that it is important today to be interviewed and photographed, I understood that this is part of it."
What keeps you together for so long?
"Three of us are childhood friends who know each other from elementary school in Sderot (Ran, David and I)," says Hazan, "and the second thing is that we are at such a stage that we allow ourselves to take a break between us. If we don't feel like writing a new song right now, we will take the time. We Not under pressure and not in the press of doing, but creating from a place where we want to do it and out of curiosity."
"It's not magic to stay together for a long time, it's mostly hard work and the love of the audience that keep us together," adds Elmaleh.
Any future plans? Are you working on a new album or have you abandoned the concept and are focusing on singles
? Hazan: "We want to make the tenth album. This series will actually review nine albums, and we will start the tenth album this year. It takes about a year until there is a new record. We started releasing songs separately during the Corona, Regardless of the albums. This experience is not so good. We thought of abandoning the albums and tried, and now we are going to return to it and write the tenth album."
