At the "Israeli Oscars" prepared ceremony, the Israeli Film and Television Academy handed out awards in 18 different categories • Minister of Culture Hili Troper called for an end to the interference of politicians in cinema: "To make political films - yes, but not politics on the back of the films"

The 2022 Ophir Awards ceremony, also known as the "Israeli Oscars", was held this evening (Sunday) at the Zappa Club in Tel Aviv, hosted by Oz Zahavi.

The Israeli Academy of Cinema and Television handed out awards to the winners in 18 categories and chose the film "Cinema Sabaya" as the best film, which will compete for the right to represent Israel at the American Oscar ceremony. The ceremony opened with an invested parody clip starring Ilan Peled, followed by Aleh Zahavi, who spoke to over a million viewers who visited the Israeli films that were shown in cinemas last year, and broke into an original song reviewing the nominated films this year, joined by Yuval Sharaf and veterans of Dayan.

And these are the winners:

Joana Said won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the film Sinema Sabaya, who asked to address every girl and woman and said: "The way you are, you are worthy, you are amazing. Know that you are a queen and one day you will receive the crown."

The best supporting actor award went to Shmuel Viluzhny for his role in the film The Road to Eilat.

"For 50 years I haven't held anything like this in my hand," he said as he waved the figurine excitedly.

The award for best original music went to Gal Lev and Lior Perla for the movie Karaoke.

Vitali Greenspan and Avi Mizrahi won the best soundtrack award for the movie Karaoke.

The best costume design award went to Rachel Ben Dahan for the movie Cinema Sabaya.

The best make-up award went to Ronit Dogo Arbiv for the movie Savoy.

The best casting award went to Emmanuel Meir for Sabaya Cinema.

Shaked Naor won the best artistic design award for the film Savoy.

The best short film award was won for the first time by an animated film - "A Letter to a Pig" directed by Tal Kantor.

The best cinematography award went to Boaz Yonatan Yaacov for Virgins, Maor Zagori's film.

The best editing award went to Neely Feller and Shauli Melamed for the film Savoy.

The best screenplay award went to Michal Vinik for Valeria Gets Married.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded by Minister of Culture Hili Trooper to Lina Chaplin, in whose honor all those present at the ceremony stood and cheered for many minutes.

"The thing everyone here has in common is the love for Israeli cinema," Troper said, "I love cinema, I love Israel, and whoever wants to be listened to should speak out of love. Mixing politics and culture - it must be avoided. Making political films - yes, but not politics behind The movies. It's better that they separate the movies from politics, not in the movies themselves but in their use as a tool for political confrontation. You can criticize the country but not insult it. When someone criticizes out of mockery, I shut up. I wish we could debate and dream out of mutual respect."

The leading actress award went to Rita Shukron for her role in the movie Karaoke.

The actor in the main role award was won by Sasson Gabai for his role in the movie Karaoke.

Gabay is the only player to compete for the Ophir Award for the 4th time, thus breaking the record of the number of awards held by Moshe Ivgi, Assi Dayan and Lior Ashkenazi who each won 3 awards.

The best director award went to Orit Fox Rotem for the movie Cinema Sabaya.

The best short documentary film award went to the film The Artist's Daughter directed by Margarita Linton, and the best long documentary film award went to the film Black Friends, created by Shlomi Elkavetz, a film that became a homage to the relationship between him and their sister Ronit Elkavetz.

At the end of the ceremony, the films that lead in the number of awards are:

Karaoke with 5 awards, Sabaya Cinema with 5 awards, and Savoi with 3.
