Everyone already knows that it's not Rosh Hashanah without a honey cake on the table.

A brown and sweet cake, one that you have to cut a thick slice from and eat with pleasure alongside a glass of hot drink.

But it is also clear that for a soft, juicy and delicious honey cake, you need a winning recipe, just like Ins Shilot Yanai's recipe.

Yanai is amazing to teach us a simple and easy recipe for honey cake in Khosha, but so delicious that there is a good chance that you will make it a few more times during the year just like that.

Preparation

How do you make a classic honey cake?

  • 1 Heat an oven to 170 degrees and grease a round pan with a diameter of 24/26 cm.

  • 2 In a mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar and oil for about 5 minutes until a swollen mixture is obtained.

  • 3 Add the honey and the other ingredients except the tea and mix.

  • 4 Pour the hot tea, mix only until a homogeneous mixture is obtained and pour into the greased pan.

  • 5 Bake in the hot oven for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out with moist crumbs.

  • 6 When the cake is in the oven, mix 3 tablespoons of honey with a little hot water.

As soon as the hot cake comes out of the oven, brush it with the melted honey.

*Can be decorated with roasted almonds/hazelnuts/powdered sugar.

  • Tip:

The cake tastes even better the next day, so it is recommended to prepare it the day before serving.
