In total, it took 1,500 tables placed end to end, 3,000 chairs, more than 3 km of fabric, nearly 150 volunteers hard at work from early morning... And hundreds of meters of thread to sew each section of sheets to form a single layer over more than 2.5 km.
And miracle, around noon this Sunday, the largest tablecloth in the world finally appeared under the amazed eyes of the inhabitants of Saint-Ouen and Saint-Denis, on the banks of the Seine.
This crazy idea is that of Yvan Loiseau, a Dionesian artist, who wanted since the first confinement, to celebrate solidarity and recreate the link between people.
And why not, record a world record.
“This large table is for me an artistic way of connecting people in the public space.
The philosophy of this project is really to give meaning to collective action.
For me, it is rather a world record for humanity that we have just beaten rather than a simple length record, ”says the artist, when he has just received from the hands of the Guinness judge records, the official paper of his record.
From noon, hundreds of residents of the surrounding neighborhoods gradually converged to come and sit down and share a good meal.
Some had cooked a few dishes, others were able to taste the dishes concocted by dozens of local associations and local merchants for free.
In total, more than 200 partners collaborated to offer participants this "moment of sharing and celebration".
