O'zapft is!

The largest folk festival in the world has opened its doors again since Saturday.

The festival has been taking place on the Theresienwiese in Munich since 1810.

After a forced two-year break, we look forward to a relaxed atmosphere, fairground rides, dirndls, Bavarian delicacies and beer.

We dedicate a whole theme week to the popular festival and have prepared delicious recipes for you.

Let's start with a snack classic.

Leave it tasty 🍻.

That's how it's done:

You only need a few ingredients:

  • Obazda:

  • 200g mature camembert

  • 100 grams of cream cheese

  • 100 g butter, soft

  • 1 tsp paprika powder

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 0.5 tsp salt

  • 0.5 tsp pepper

  • toppings:

  • Red onion, sliced

  • chives

  • paprika powder

And this is how quickly you prepare the delicious spread:

  • For the Obazda: Cut the

    Camembert into small cubes.

In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, butter, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper.

  • Leave to rest at room temperature for 15 minutes for the full flavor to develop.

  • For the toppings:

Decorate the Obazda with red onion, chives and paprika as you like.

  • A pretzel tastes good with it.

  • Zack - done!

    Obatzter, Obatzda or Obazda?

It doesn't matter, the main thing is tasty and simple.

How strong do you like him 🧀?

The Bavarian Obazda is a real snack classic and shouldn't be missing from our Oktoberfest special.

Although you only need a few ingredients and hardly any preparation time, they noticeably affect the taste.

That starts with the choice of Camembert.

For a strong taste, you should rather use a French Camembert that has been matured for a long time.

If you like it milder, a German Camembert is suitable.

But no matter which Camembert, it is important that you let the spread rest a little before serving.

This allows the taste to develop better.

And another tip: Obazda is always served at room temperature.

Matching the theme week, there is a fun fact for you every day about the Oktoberfest

For many years, the Oktoberfest has traditionally only started when the mayor of the city of Munich has tapped

    the first

(and by far not the last)

    keg of beer

    .

There is a lot of pressure on the shoulders of the official and it is important to prove clout.

The best result is two shots.

Things didn't go so well in 1950. At that time it took a total of 17 (or 19 - depending on the source) beats before the mayor finally said "

    O'zapft is!

    “ could announce 🍻
