Rettungskräfte am Montag nach einem Erdrutsch in Japan: Dutzende Verletzte

Es ist einer der schwersten Stürme, die das Land seit Jahren heimgesucht haben: Bei einem ungewöhnlich heftigen Taifun in Japan ist mindestens ein Mensch ums Leben gekommen. Die Nachrichtenagentur dpa berichtet bereits von insgesamt zwei Toten und einem weiteren Vermissten. Dutzende Einwohner des Landes wurden durch den Sturm verletzt.
As the Japanese television station TBS reported, at least 75 residents suffered injuries on the severely affected southwestern main island of Kyushu and in other parts of the country as a result of the strong gusts of wind.
In Miyazaki Prefecture on Kyushu, a man was rescued unconscious from his flooded car and later pronounced dead, the broadcaster reported.
The power went out at times in hundreds of thousands of households.
More than four million households in Kyushu and western Japan were called upon to seek shelter from the squalls and heavy rains.
The authorities warned of the danger of landslides.
Japanese television stations showed images of fallen trees, damaged house facades and flooded streets.
This 14th typhoon of the season is considered to be particularly dangerous.

»Wir müssen weiterhin sehr wachsam sein und uns auf heftige Regenfälle, Stürme, hohe Wellen und Sturmfluten einstellen«, sagte ein Beamter der Japanischen Meteorologischen Agentur (JMA).
Der öffentliche Verkehr wurde beeinträchtigt, Hunderte Flüge mussten gestrichen werden. Die meisten Schulen waren am Montag ohnehin wegen eines Feiertags geschlossen. In der zentraljapanischen Tokai-Region, dem industriellen Kernland Japans, werden in den nächsten 24 Stunden bis zu 400 Liter Regen pro Quadratmeter erwartet.
Industry was also hit hard.
There are no reports of damage to the facilities.
Toyota, among others, announced that it would stop production in some factories because of the storm.
Meanwhile, the typhoon continued to move in a northeasterly direction and should also cause heavy rain on the main island of Honshu with the capital Tokyo on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, meanwhile, postponed his departure for New York, where he is due to address the UN General Assembly to monitor the impact of the storm.
In the past few weeks, heavy rainfall has repeatedly hit large parts of the island kingdom and caused severe flooding in some cases.
As a result of global warming, Japan is experiencing increasingly heavy rainfall.
As a result, landslides are becoming more and more common in the very mountainous island state.
