Berlin – The manufacturer Modern Chocolate GmbH is recalling its biscuits because of a possible risk from harmful substances.

The product "Aldiva Einhorn-Kekse 220g" from the company based in Dreieich in the Offenbach district of Hesse is affected, as the official portal

Lebensmittelwarning.de

has now announced.

During product tests, increased levels of 3-MCPD and glycidol were found in confectionery.

3-MCPD are chemical ester compounds.

The compounds have been detected in refined edible oils and fats and in foods made from them, such as margarine, baked goods and confectionery, fried products and various snack products, as well as infant formula and follow-on formula.

Due to the detection of 3-MCPD and glycidyl fatty acid esters in these fats, these compounds are also found in infant formula.

The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment therefore strongly recommends that parents continue to feed their infants, if necessary, with products specially made for them, because these products contain the right composition of vital nutrients for the infant.
