Three days included global educational consultations, in which the Syrian delegation participated in the Education Transformation Summit in New York, which was held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Syria's participation came at the invitation of President Bashar al-Assad to participate in the Education Transformation Summit from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
After Syria presented its national commitment to move forward in transforming education in accordance with the global prizes approved by the summit, the closing sessions of Leaders' Day were held today in the United Nations General Assembly Hall.
The opening session of the closing day included the importance of the Education Transformation Summit and the outcomes that the summit’s work will conclude after the momentum given by world leaders to this summit, in addition to focusing on the inevitability of educational transformation and the future role of youth in that.
The last day’s sessions included a panel discussion entitled “Towards a Transformation in Education” and five leaders’ roundtable sessions on “Education in Crisis, Partnership for Transformative Actions for Learners, Global Challenge to Address the Education Crisis, and Transforming Education to Transform the World: Empowering Global Citizens” Through Education for a Sustainable Future, the digital transformation of education, the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of girls and women in and through education, and education financing.”
The Leaders Day will conclude this evening with the presentation of the vision of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on strengthening the educational transformation movement and moving forward.
The Syrian delegation, headed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, Secretary of the National Committee for UNESCO, Dr. Nidal Hassan, and Director of Planning and International Cooperation Ghassan Shagri, in addition to a youth delegation that includes the CEO of the Syrian Trust for Development Shadi Al-Ashi and the President of the National Union of Syrian Students Dareen Suleiman, President of the Revolutionary Youth Union, Sumer Zaher, and the head of the Vanguards of the Baath Organization, Dr. Muhammad Ezzat Arabi Katbi.
