Bridge Mincer: Man dies after table fireplace explodes

There was a deflagration in a residential building in Saxony-Anhalt. A 54-year-old died. According to the police, a table fireplace could have triggered the accident.

After a deflagration in a house, a 54-year-old from Brücken-Hackpfufflel in the Mansfeld-Südharz district died.

The man was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Halle (an der Saale) by rescue helicopter on Sunday morning.

On Monday he succumbed to his injuries, the police said on Tuesday morning.

The explosion damaged one wall of the house so badly that the building had to be closed.

Experts are in the process of reconstructing the accident.

According to initial findings, a table fireplace could be the cause.

The fire brigade was on site with 54 emergency services.

The property damage is estimated to be more than 100,000 euros.
