Some people would like to lose a few kilos on their hips.

Not eating at certain times can help.

There are many methods for losing weight, but some are less effective in the long term due to their one-sided approach or short-term implementation - for example the 3-day diet.

Intermittent fasting is a good and healthy alternative, recommended by experts and proven in studies, according to the German Nutrition Society.

V. (DGE).

There are various intervals after which it has proven beneficial to abstain from food in order not only to relieve the metabolism but also to reduce body weight.

It is also important for intermittent fasting to know which drinks you can consume during the fasting period.

Losing weight works based on four rules even without exercise.

According to the DGE, various health-promoting effects on the metabolism are attributed to interval fasting or intermittent fasting.

This involves going without food for hours or for several days.

The goal for most people is long-term weight loss.

In contrast to other types of fasting, intermittent fasting can be used for a longer period of time and as a permanent diet - apart from diet trends such as losing weight with coffee and lemon.

The following forms of intermittent fasting are known:

  • 2-day diet (2-day diet): Within a week, a maximum of 650 kilocalories are consumed on only two consecutive days.

  • 5:2 diet (The Fast Diet): With this form of intermittent fasting, people who want to lose weight eat normally five days a week. About a quarter of the usual energy intake is provided on the two fasting days.

  • 16:8 intermittent fasting: This involves two meals on the menu that can be eaten within eight hours.

Nothing should be eaten in the remaining 16 hours, i.e. there should be 16 hours between the last meal of the previous day and the first meal of the current day.

  • Alternate-Day-Fasting (Every-Other-Day Diet): Alternate fasting and normal eating on consecutive days.

On the fasting days, only about 25 percent of the usual amount of energy should be eaten.

  • Dinner-cancelling: With this form of fasting, dinner is omitted two to three days a week.

In the evening only water or tea is served.

For those who rely on the 16:8 intermittent fasting, it should be said: skipping breakfast is not the ideal strategy.

Instead, it's better to skip dinner, especially for people with diabetes.

“In fact, metabolic and digestive processes seem to be most active in the morning.

We can now also see this in diabetology, with continuous blood sugar measurement, you can see, for example, with the carbohydrates that you eat in the morning, these are metabolized much better in most people," reveals Dr.

Basically, fasting triggers biochemical changes in the body that have a positive effect on sugar and fat metabolism.

In addition, the body releases more messenger substances that inhibit inflammatory reactions in the body.
