On the New York catwalks, the bride parades in a transparent dress

At New York fashion week, a diaphanous bridal outfit showed up on the catwalk. The beginnings of a trend?

Tuesday, September 13.

It's 2 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension on New York's 5th Avenue.

The place welcomed a bride with an unusual pageantry: a transparent dress.

To close the fashion show of the American brand in sight Mirror Palais, Cindy Kimberly, model followed by seven million subscribers on Instagram, wears a white and long dress which reveals a white thong.

Imagined by designer Marcelo Gaia, this very sensual interpretation of the traditional white dress has been widely taken up on Instagram.

If the diaphanous dress is not worn here to celebrate a union, it was recently worn in a ceremony that made people talk about it in the French Instagram sphere.

The naked bride

To celebrate her wedding in December 2021 with François Larpin, the French influencer Camille Charrière had bet on a vintage skirt set at the town hall, then, in the evening, on a lace dress signed Harris Reed.

What do the two outfits have in common?

An assumed transparency.

And appreciated.

“Since Camile Charrière's marriage, some clients have been asking for transparency and this is a first,” confirms Karen Abi Aad, buyer at Printemps Mariage.

She is also making a place for herself among the guests, like the singer Dua Lipa at the wedding of designer Simon Porte Jacquemus, which was held on August 27, 2022 in Provence.

After having made the heyday of stars on the red carpets, the bare dress seems to be making its way into the wedding dressing room.

The white revolution

As future spouses lighten the weight of tradition, the wedding dress reinvents itself.

Its conventional Western shape, that is to say long, white and modest - a symbol of purity - thus leaves room for new variants.

A phenomenon accentuated by the staging on social networks of this once intimate ceremony.

Now a reflection of the bride's taste, the dress must be an exception: be radically original, signed by a designer, or downright sexy.

To the point of inviting transparency to the head table?

It's a big “yes” for the Mirror Palais brand.
