Western Mexico was hit by a strong 7.4 magnitude earthquake that was felt as far away as the capital on September 19.
A cursed date for the inhabitants since two of the deadliest earthquakes in the country's history took place on that day.
“You relive the past experience of the last earthquake,” says Arturo García, an employee from Mexico City.
In 1985, a powerful earthquake killed nearly 10,000 people and caused extensive damage in Mexico City, and in 2017, 369 people died in another very violent earthquake.
"In scientific terms, there is no reason to say that September 19 is a special day for an earthquake," said Claudia Sheinbaum, mayor of Mexico City.
The height of coincidence, the earthquake occurred thirty minutes after an earthquake drill.
Every year, the authorities of the capital organize these drills to commemorate previous deadly earthquakes.
For the time being, one victim is to be deplored and no serious damage has been reported.
