2022-09-21T16:57:44.308Z

The health insurance funds have started using the new corona vaccine • Prof. Zarka recommends several groups to get the updated dose, including those aged 65+ and patients with chronic diseases • "We are before winter and there is a fear of cross-infection of corona and flu, it is worth getting vaccinated as part of the overall preparation for the season"

Today (Wednesday) the health insurance funds began to vaccinate with the new corona vaccine containing a strain adapted to leumicrons.

The vaccine in the additional dose will be available to the entire population over the age of 12, but it is recommended for those aged 65 and over, for patients with chronic diseases and those suffering from suppression of the immune system.

Other groups for whom it is recommended to be vaccinated with the leumicron-adapted vaccine are health workers or teachers or caregivers of the elderly.

The leumicron-adapted vaccine can be given at the same time as receiving the flu vaccine (each vaccine will be given in a separate arm) or separately.

The vaccine will be given at least three months from the date of receiving the previous corona vaccine or recovery.

The vaccine will only be given to those who have received two previous doses of the corona vaccine.

Those who have not yet been vaccinated will be vaccinated with the older corona vaccine that contains the delta strain, in two first doses.

The new vaccine from all two strains - the delta strain - an original strain of the virus and the micron strain.

The vaccine received emergency approval by the CDC's Immunization Expert Panel.

It is considered to lead to the creation of an improved immune response against the strains of the Omicron family, and therefore it is expected to provide more significant protection against morbidity from these strains and possibly even for a longer period of time.

The first to be vaccinated in general with the updated corona vaccine for the Omicron strain was Michal Zaks from Tel Aviv.

"As soon as I heard that you could get the vaccine, I came.

It is important to get vaccinated to prevent contracting the disease and even its worsening," she explained.

"We, like all the health organizations in the world, recommend to everyone over the age of 65 and to all patients with chronic diseases - come and get vaccinated. The corona and flu viruses can cause serious illness to the point of hospitalization. Our recommendation is clear - protect yourself," Prof. Salman Zarka, the corona projector, told reporters.

"The infection rate shows signs of a slight decrease. The increase we saw last week has stopped. We will continue to monitor with the understanding that waves of corona and flu will appear this coming winter."

The fifth vaccination campaign has begun,

Dekan Zarka added that: "Until now, we have vaccinated over 230,000 people against the flu. In order to get optimal protection against corona and flu, it is important to get both vaccines. There is still no other shot that immunizes against both viruses."

Ruth Baruch, director of the corona vaccination operation and head of the nursing department in the general community "The updated vaccine combines a compound against the dominant Omicron strain in this period and against the original strain.

The ambition is to prevent the outbreak of another corona wave that may disrupt our daily routine.

The vaccine adapted to the micron strain protects us and those around us from infection and the complications of the disease.

We call on everyone who belongs to the various risk groups to come and get vaccinated.

It must be remembered that we are before winter, and there is a fear of cross-infection of corona and flu, therefore it is worthwhile to get vaccinated as part of the overall preparation for winter illness.

According to the instructions of the Ministry of Health, it is possible to receive a vaccine against corona together with a flu vaccine - for those who want it."

Dr. Roni Farber, Director of the Public and Children's Health Department at Moheded: "The new vaccine combines a compound against the Omicron strains BA4 and BA5 and against the original strain of the corona virus.

Anyone over the age of 12, who has received at least 2 corona vaccines or is defined as sick, can be vaccinated with the new vaccine.

We mainly recommend at-risk populations, aged 65 and over, immunosuppressed, pregnant women and health system workers to get vaccinated, and we also recommend getting vaccinated with the flu vaccine at the same time."
