Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, present at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday in London, has tested positive for Covid-19, the royal palace announced on Wednesday.
The 82-year-old sovereign, triple vaccinated and who had already had the Covid in February, tested positive on Tuesday evening, the court announced in a press release.
"The queen's activities this week have therefore been canceled," the palace said, without further details on her state of health.
On the throne since January 14, 1972, Margrethe II is, since the death of Elizabeth II, the only queen of Europe and the longest-reigning monarch of the continent.
In the world, only the Sultan of Brunei exceeds it by four years of reign.
In the Scandinavian country, it seems stainless.
Widowed since 2018, the queen has contributed to gradually modernizing the monarchy without trivializing it.
"I will stay on the throne until I fall," warned this inveterate smoker, mother of two sons, the eldest of whom, Frederik, 54, is to succeed him.
