The “Buy it now” function has been around on the online marketplace Ebay for a long time.

Ebay classifieds are now also following suit and are offering the “buy direct” function.

Private buyers and sellers can interact with it without having direct contact.

However, the "buy directly" option is linked to trackable shipping and the "secure payment" payment option.

The process can become significantly more expensive as a result, because the costs for secure payment are borne by the buyer.

You pay a flat rate of 35 cents per purchase and 4.5 percent of the purchase price.

Ebay acts as a trustee and offers buyer protection for amounts up to a maximum of 2,000 euros.

Sellers have to be careful, because the boundary between private and commercial trade is fluid.

However, the function can only be used for selected products.

The seller must choose the direct purchase option when creating the ad.

The purchase method is available in all categories where ready-to-ship goods are offered.

Classic classified ad transactions are still possible because the new function is not mandatory.
